Boy George has been left devastated after the death of his Irish mother Dinah O'Dowd at the age of 84.
The Culture Club singer's representatives confirmed the news and said that the singer, whose real name is George Alan O'Dowd, is “devastated” by the loss of his mum, who was from Dublin.
Dinah died on Monday surrounded by family, including George, and they have since asked for privacy at this very sad time.

Tributes have begun to pour in for Dinah, with DJ Fat Tony describing her as "an incredible, beautiful, strong woman".
He wrote on Instagram: "God bless you, you amazing woman Dinah…
"My heart goes out to @boygeorgeofficial and the entire O Dowd family what an incredible beautiful strong woman we will miss you x."
Back in 2020, Dinah was admitted to the hospital with heart and lung problems.
The singer tweeted at the time: "My beautiful mum is in the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Woolwich.
"A problem with her heart or lungs. She’s stable but they have said they won’t resuscitate her if things go wrong? Apparently, it won’t work? How can they know. Please pray! @LG_NHS."
He admitted he was concerned about a ‘do not resuscitate’ order which could have meant his mum might not be saved if she took a turn for the worse.
She recovered after a two-day stint in the hospital and Boy Geogre confirmed to Lorraine Kelly during a live interview that she was on the mend.
During the chat, the Love Hurts hitmaker also shared a sweet story that his mum relayed to him about her time hospital.
He said: "The nurse was singing to my mum and my mum said 'I can’t hear ya take our mask off!' But obviously, the nurse said she can’t".
The pop star has always commented on his very close relationship with his mother who raised him alone.
In 2022, when he appeared on I’m a Celebrity, Get me Out of Here, he shared his sadness over her falling ill during Covid and became emotional.
Speaking to the Mirror at the time, his mum said: "George and I are very close and I’m so very proud of him.
"He is always there for me, so his reaction wasn’t a surprise, and I am waiting to hug him when he gets home."
Dinah’s funeral details will be confirmed at a later date.
