Boy, 9, leaves hospital after being hit by Renault

A nine-year-old boy has now been released from hospital after being hit by a car.

Merseyside Police were called to Derbyshire Hill Road, close to Parr Sports and Community Centre in St Helens, at 3.25pm on Thursday, October 20, following reports of a crash. Once at the scene officers found a nine-year-old boy was ran over by a Renault Twingo.

Police closed the road between Berwyn Grove and Swan Avenue while emergency services worked at the scene. The boy was rushed to hospital by the North West Ambulance Service for an assessment of his injuries.

The driver of the Renault stopped at the scene and is helping police with their enquiries.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson has confirmed that a nine-year-old boy was assessed at hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries. The road was closed in both directions for around three hours, before it was re-opened at 6.30pm.
