Boy, 4, rushed to hospital after being mauled in horror dog attack

A four-year-old boy has been seriously hurt after being mauled by a dog, police in Scotland said.

It happened on Saturday evening in Clydebank.

The child's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, officers said.

It is not known what breed the dog was, and few details about the attack have been released.

Police Scotland said in a statement: “On the evening of Saturday, April 2, officers received a report of a 4-year-old boy sustaining serious, but not life-threatening injuries, following an incident with a dog in the Craiglea Road area of Duntocher, Clydebank.

"We can confirm enquiries are ongoing.”

It follows two recent tragedies which claimed the lives of two young children.

Last week a two-year-old boy died from his injuries after being mauled by a dog in Worcester, while one-year-old Bella-Rae Birch was killed in a dog attack at her home in St Helens, Merseyside.

An eight-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being bitten in the face by a dog in Cannock.
