Boy, 2, left with broken jaw and 200 stitches after being attacked by pet Rottweiler

A two-year-old boy was left needing 200 stitches and treatment for a broken jaw after being brutally attacked by a loose pet Rottweiler.

The toddler and his four-year-old brother, from France, were strolling through Thailand with their nanny when they passed a house with open gates in Pattaya city last week.

Shockingly, the large black 'devil dog' came charging out of the house and lunged towards the boys' nanny who tried to pull away from the creature.

As the dog attacked her, the younger of the two brothers was seen running towards her when the dog turned to maul him instead.

The pet owner's helper Somkiat, 67, told how he heard someone scream and rushed over to help.

"I rushed out of the house to see what was happening and saw the dog attacking the boy," the 67-year-old said.

"I grabbed a metal stick to scare away the dog."

Another neighbour Jet, 39, added: "The owner of this dog has to be very careful and make sure that it is on leash. It is such a violent dog."

It took at least three adults to pull away the 11st pet dog before it stopped mauling the boy who was then rushed to hospital with wounds across his face and a broken jaw.

He was given 200 stitches at the Pattaya Hospital before being transferred to Bangkok because his injuries were too serious.

Police are now investigating the incident and questioned the house owner who reportedly claimed that they left the gate open to take out the trash but ran outside when the boys and their nanny passed by.

The dog had begun barking at the nanny and the two-year-old boy from inside the premises before running loose into the road and attacking them.

Pattaya Police Station Police Colonel Kullachat Kullchai said: "We are still investigating the case and accusations against the owner.

"We have to wait for the boy's medical results yet before we can finalise the charges."
