Boy, 17, stabbed ‘multiple times’ on busy high street in Bermondsey

A teenage boy is in hospital after being repeatedly stabbed on a busy high street in south east London.

The 17-year-old was attacked on Southwark Park Road at the junction with St James’s Road, Bermondsey around 11.20pm on Wednesday.

Police were alerted and responded with colleagues from London Ambulance Service.

He was found at the scene suffering from multiple stab wounds.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “The male was taken to hospital by LAS where he remains.

“We await further details on his condition.”

Enquiries continue and there have been no arrests in the early stages of the investigation, he added

A crime scene remains in place.

Three bus routes have been diverted and Southwark Park Road is closed in both directions between St James’s Road and Galleywall Road.

Scotland Yard added: “Police were called at about 11.22pm on Wednesday, April 10 to reports of a stabbing on St James’s Road, SE16.

“Officers attended along with colleagues from the London Ambulance Service and found a 17-year-old male with multiple stab wounds.

“There have been no arrests at this time and enquiries continue.

“A crime scene remains in place.”

London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 11.19pm yesterday April 10 to reports of a stabbing on Southwark Park Road, SE16.

“We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and members of our tactical response unit.

“We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.

“Our first medic arrived on scene in approximately three minutes.

“We treated a patient at the scene before taking them to a major trauma centre.”
