A teenage boy has been left seriously ill in hospital after falling from a bridge. Emergency services rushed to Cwmbran following the incident at around 9pm on Thursday night.
The A4051 Cwmbran Drive was closed in both directions from about 9.20pm. At 4am on Friday, April 29, the road was re-opened and later the Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed they had attended the scene and taken one person to the University Hospital of Wales for further treatment. A Gwent Police spokesman confirmed the incident involved a 14-year-old boy who fell from a bridge.
The boy is receiving treatment at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. Gwent Police have asked anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact them on Facebook or Twitter or to call 101 with the reference number 2200140742.
A force spokesman said: "We received reports of a 14-year-old boy who had fallen from a bridge on Cwmbran Drive at around 9pm on Thursday, April 28. Officers attended supported by paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service. The boy is currently receiving treatment at University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff."
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called shortly after 9pm on Thursday, April 28, to an incident near Cwmbran Drive, Cwmbran. We were supported by an emergency medical retrieval and transfer service vehicle and deployed two rapid response vehicles and an emergency ambulance to the scene. One patient was transported to University Hospital Of Wales for further treatment."
