A 13-year-old boy died in hospital yesterday from the injuries he sustained in a tractor crash.
Named locally as Kyle Pilbrow, the boy was behind the wheel of the tractor on Saturday evening when it overturned.
The incident happened on a local road at Scarduane near Claremorris in Co Mayo.
Gardai were alerted by a passerby to the crash and emergency services rushed to the scene before treating the young lad.
He was initially brought to Galway University Hospital but was transferred to Temple Street Hospital in Dublin

But the boy lost his battle for life yesterday, gardai confirmed.
It is understood that no other vehicle was involved in the incident.
Gardai are working on establishing how the crash happened, but they are treating it as a tragedy.
Tom Connolly, a local Fine Gael Cllr, told the Irish Mirror: "I send my sincere sympathy to the family of the victim. It is a tragedy.
"Everyone is devastated. It's very tragic for it to hit this small community, a very tight knit community.
"But everyone will pull together to support the family. He was just 13 years of age. It's just all very sad."
It's understood Kyle's family are well-known locally.
A technical examination of the scene was carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
The road was then fully reopened to traffic yesterday.
A garda spokesman added: "Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Claremorris Garda Station on (094) 937 2080, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station."
