Two youths left a boy seriously injured during an attempted robbery that was foiled when his friend arrived.
Cheshire Police said the victim, aged 13, was waiting near Avondale Drive in Widnes between 9.10pm and 9.30pm on Wednesday, June 8, when the attack took place. Two boys approached and began to beat him up, striking him “multiple times” as they tried to take his phone.
When his friend arrived the culprits fled the scene. The victim suffered serious injuries in the attack.

A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said there have been two arrests, with both suspects since released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Officers have appealed to the public for more information. PC Alex Lloyd, of Widnes Local Policing Unit, said: “The victim has understandably been left shaken by the ordeal.
“I want to reassure the community that we are working hard to make sure those responsible are identified and caught. Our enquiries are ongoing and as part of this we are asking anyone with any information, no matter how small it may be, to come forward.
“We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage which may help our investigation.” Anyone who has information, CCTV or dash cam footage is asked to contact Cheshire Constabulary online cheshire.police.uk or via 101 quoting IML 1288451.
