A 13-year-old boy who was hit by a car remains in a critical condition in hospital.
Emergency services attended East Lancashire Road, near to the Showcase cinema at Stonedale Retail Park, at 7.25pm on Wednesday, December 7. They found a 13-year-old boy had been hit by a silver Vauxhall Astra estate on the 40mph road.
He was taken to hospital with serious injuries in a critical condition. Merseyside Police confirmed that a 34-year-old man, from West Derby, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He was taken to a police station and remains in custody. At the time of the crash, officers reported the driver of the car stopped at the scene and were assisting police with the investigation.
In an update from Merseyside Police they have said the 13-year-old boy is still in hospital and remains in a critical condition. Hundreds of people have left messages of support on social media for the boy and his family.

Detective Sergeant Amy Murray from our Matrix Roads Policing Unit said: "The family of the boy are being supported by officers as our enquiries continue. If you witnessed the incident or hold any CCTV, dashcam or other information, please come forward now.
