A 13-year-old boy is fighting for his life in hospital after he was hit by a car on the East Lancashire Road in Croxteth.
Merseyside Police officers rushed to the East Lancs Road at 7.25pm on Wednesday, December 7, and closed the road in both directions between Stonebridge Lane and Lower Lane. Officers confirmed reports there had been a "serious road traffic colision" near to the Stonedale Retail Park.
The boy was hit by a silver Vauxhall Astra estate near to the Showcase cinema and the driver of the car stopped at the scene. They are now assisting police with the investigation.

Police described the boy's condition as critical and he is currently in hospital being treated for his injuries.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "The East Lancashire Road will remain closed between Stonebridge Lane and Lower Lane whilst the Roads Policing team carry out examinations at the scene."
