A 12-year-old boy was taken to hospital this morning after being attacked in Cheetham Hill.
The incident happened near Cheetham Hill Road at around 8am, police said. A boy was taken to hospital from the scene after being assaulted.
He suffered head injuries which are believed to be minor, officers added. Patrols have now been stepped up in the local area 'to reassure' locals.

Police are urging any witnesses of the incident to come forward as they continue their investigations. A GMP spokesperson said: "We would like to reassure the local community that there will be additional high-visibility officers patrolling the Cheetham Hill area and supporting ongoing enquiries into this incident.
"Officers are there to reassure and support the local community as well as keep the public safe. If anyone has any concerns, our officers will be happy to assist."
