Award-winning dining, retail and leisure operator BOXPARK is set to open a new venue in Liverpool next year.
The new venue will be based in the historic Canning Hall as part of the Cains Brewery Village estate in the Baltic Triangle. The dining and entertainment venue will be the group’s first BOXPARK-branded development outside of London.
The site will be transformed into a food hall and events destination featuring a large internal space with units set over the ground floor, a small internal mezzanine, and an external terrace. Scheduled to launch in late 2023, the venue will add to Liverpool’s already buzzing food and drink scene, while also offering a unique programme of entertainment.

Set over 16,000 sq ft, the venue will be able to accommodate 400 people inside, plus 200 outside. The proposals for BOXPARK Liverpool will include around 10 kitchen units, three internal bars with additional external bars.
There will also be a 5,430 sq ft external terrace to offer al fresco dining and intimate events. BOXPARK has agreed a 15-year lease with Cains Brewery Village for the site.
BOXPARK is well known for its wide range of street food, independent retailers and events and the new venue aims to champion local businesses and talent with opportunities for both independent and established food operators, as well as artists, creators and performers from Liverpool.
Simon Champion, BOXPARK CEO, said: “We are thrilled to announce such a fantastic location for our next BOXPARK venture. Our team have searched extensively for sites in Liverpool since 2016, having considered multiple locations across the city but we believe the Cains Brewery Village is perfect for this scheme.
“As a dynamic and fast-growing business, we hope BOXPARK will be an exciting addition to Liverpool’s buzzing food and drink scene, offering an all-day food and entertainment destination.”
Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Development and Economy, Cllr Sarah Doyle, added: “The news that BOXPARK is setting up its first non-London operation in Liverpool is exciting. It’s also a perfect illustration of the city’s significant appeal to investors. I’m delighted that BOXPARK has placed social value at the heart of its decision-making, with their commitment to working with the local supply chain and to recruiting from within the city. BOXPARK will be a strong, high-profile addition to the Liverpool dining and leisure scene.”
Harj Dusanj, Cains Brewery Village managing director, said: “We are incredibly excited to be welcoming the first BOXPARK-branded venture outside London to Cains Brewery Village. BOXPARK shares our passion and enthusiasm to showcase the best independent street-food businesses in the heart of Liverpool’s creative quarter. Within this new social destination expect greater live experiences and opportunities for sport and music fans to celebrate the not-to-be-missed moments at Cains Brewery Village.”
The new scheme is set to create more 150 jobs. BOXPARK Liverpool will be the first of its kind outside of London, adding to the three current sites in Shoreditch, Croydon and Wembley.
