Boxing fans furious after Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte stream crashes

Boxing fans took to social media angry at paying £25 to watch a night of boxing only to be met with a black screen.

Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte will headline a huge night of boxing at Wembley but the action kicked off at 6pm with the first hour available free to BT Sport customers. The encryption will kick in at 7pm and only those who paid for the pay-per-view will be able to watch the rest of the action.

But fans have been complaining in their droves that they couldn't see anything with several Virgin Media customers in particular affected. "Sort it out… just have a black screen with viewer number in the right corner," one wrote.

"Why after taking my money for the FURY fight is it just a black screen with a message channel not available and then the box just crashes?" said another. Another fan commented: "Is it on yet? I'm just seeing a black screen with a number in the corner", while yet another added: "Anyone else having issues watching the Fury fight on Virgin Media? Getting the black screen of death here."

A Virgin Media spokesperson said: "We’re sorry for an earlier issue that affected the Fury v Whyte broadcast for a short period of time - this has now been fixed."

Fury and Whyte will meet for Fury's heavyweight world title after years of bickering. Fury won the belt when he stopped Deontay Wilder in their second meeting in 2020 before ra repeat performance last year saw him settle their rivalry for good.

Whyte, meanwhile, has been waiting almost 1,700 days for his shot at a world title and has not fought since his revenge victory over Alexander Povetkin 13 months ago.

And after a friendly build-up, Fury insisted he is not untouchable having been forced to climb off the canvas four times in his three fights with Wilder. "I’m not sure about all this outboxing – unless I’m Houdini, I can definitely hit them all, for sure, but I’ve definitely been hit before.

"I’ve been bounced off the canvas more times than a bouncy ball. I’m not this untouchable boxer everyone thinks I might be. I’m just a normal boxing man who has got lucky 32 times in a row, I think!"
