Boxing fans convinced they know Tyson Fury’s fight tactics after workout

Fans think Tyson Fury gave away his tactics for his fight with Dillian Whyte by boxing in a southpaw stance during his open workout.

Fury, who fights Whyte this Saturday at Wembley, usually fights from an orthodox stance but is known for switching his style. This was the case at Tuesday's open workout as the heavyweight champion hit pads with his coach whilst in a southpaw stance for the entire session.

Some fans think that Fury is playing in to Whyte's strengths if he utilises a southpaw stance in their world title fight. This is because it makes Whyte's best punch, his left hook, easier to land compared to if Fury was in his traditional orthodox stance.

One fan wrote: "The more Fury fights as a southpaw the more it brings Whyte's left hook to the body into play. He's the body snatcher and probably has the best left hook in heavyweight boxing," whilst another added: "As soon as he tries to go southpaw in this fight it’s over, that left hook is taking his head off".

Other think Fury will take the same approach he did for his second fight with Derek Chisora, with a user writing: "He’s taking the Chisora 2 approach but with probably a bit more aggression". Another commented: "Fury will come out as a southpaw and let Whyte think he's got an advantage, make him miss for the whole of round 1, come out orthodox in the 2nd and start to dismantle Whyte".

A final user credited Fury for his unpredictability, writing: "Whyte is either thinking 'I'm glad I trained for a southpaw" or 'I wish I trained for a southpaw' Fury proceeds to box orthodox or southpaw or both. How do you train for Fury?".

Fury looks to make the second defence of his WBC title after defending it for the first time by knocking out Deontay Wilder in their epic trilogy last October. 'The Gypsy King' said he will utilise whatever stance works against Whyte and would be willing to box him square on.

"It's no secret that I've knocked out people with left hand - right hand," he said. "I've been boxing southpaw quite a bit in camp, whatever works. If they don't work we'll switch to orthodox, or if that don't work we might just go on square on. What's it called? Orthobox!".
