Melbourne: The opening day of the fourth Test between India and Australia saw record attendance with 87,242 spectators reaching the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on Thursday.
New Record
It was a new record for the highest single-day attendance in a five-day match between the two teams.
Notably, the tickets for the opening day of the ongoing Test had been sold out over two weeks ahead of the match.

Australia wins toss
Australia won the toss and decided to bat after winning the toss and finished the day on 311/6. The crowd also witnessed the heated altercation between debutant Sam Konstas and India stalwart Virat Kohli.
The altercation occurred after the completion of the 10th over during the Australia's first Innings when the players were crossing over. Virat Kohli and the debutant Konstas bumped shoulders while moving across the pitch.
