Many shops choose to close on Boxing Day, while others will open to kick-off the popular post-Christmas sales. Most of the major supermarkets are likely to be open this year, however operating hours may vary depending on the branch.
That includes the Big Four supermarkets - Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's and Morrisons - which will all have stores open on December 26, but are generally closing earlier than usual.

Opening hours on Boxing Day
All of the Big Four supermarkets will be open on Boxing Day, as well as Lidl, however many will be operating on reduced hours.
Lidl: Lidl will be open on Boxing Day, operating on reduced hours of 10am to 4pm.
Morrisons: Morrisons will reopen on Boxing Day from 9am to 6pm.
Sainsbury's: The vast majority of Sainsbury's supermarkets will be open between 10am and 5pm on Boxing Day, and convenience stores will be open from 9am to 9pm.
Asda: The Big Four supermarket will reopen on Boxing Day from 10am to 4pm.
Tesco: Tesco will keep its doors open on Boxing Day, however hours can vary depending on the branch.
