Boxer Paul Kean makes Dundee proud with biggest win of his career

Boxer Paul Kean delivered the best performance in his stellar career in front of a raucous Dundee crowd on Saturday night.

The 29-year-old stopped fearsome puncher Sulaimon Olagbade in a two-round demolition at the Caird Hall.

The Nigerian struggled to handle Paul’s power, speed and accuracy from the opening bell.

The ref pulled him from the fight in the second round after he was dropped twice by the local man.

Speaking to Dundee Live after the fight, Paul said the amazing atmosphere in the Caird Hall helped spur him to victory.

He told us: “I just can’t thank everyone enough for their support.

“It was by far the best atmosphere I’ve ever fought in.

“I'm just so grateful for people spending their money to come and watch me box.”

Paul is currently the Scottish and Celtic Superwelter weight champion and Celtic middleweight champion.

On Saturday night he added the prestigious IBO Continental title to that list.

He is a top role model in the city and helps his dad - Paul Sir - coach the next generation of fighters at the family’s hugely successful Skyaxe Combat and Fitness Gym.

Writing on the we gym’s website, a spokesman for Team Kean said: “TEAM KEAN would like to thank everyone for such support for the New professional boxing Continental Champion.

“In his best ever performance to date he stopped the former WBU World champion in 2 rounds.

“The biggest ever title to be held in Dundee!!”

And they added: “Due to circumstances outwith our control the show started later but the result was absolutely fantastic due to an unbelievable performance from Paul Kean.

“This will push Paul up the rankings and push him onto much bigger titles.

“DUNDEE BE PROUD.

“SCOTLAND BE PROUD.”
