Boxer Nicola Adams and Ella Baig describe ‘absolute panic’ as IVF baby came a month early

Nicola Adams and girlfriend Ella Baig have spoken about their panic as their son arrived a month early.

In a new ITV documentary Nicola Adams: IVF and Me, the couple revealed all in their journey to having son Taylor. Their first round of IVF failed, and the second time Ella sadly had a miscarriage eight weeks in.

Their third round of IVF was a success - but baby Taylor ended up coming a month early. The surprise meant Nicola and Ella ended up rushing to the hospital in a panic.

The ITVBe documentary showed the moment the two ran to the hospital together as they said "it's happening". They said they were in "absolute panic" as they made for the hospital.

Nicola showed social media footage of them heading over and as they waited in the hospital for Taylor to arrive. But thankfully, all went okay and Taylor arrived on July 12.

The documentary investigated the difficulties in accessing IVF in the UK - particularly for same-sex couples.

Nicola and Ella spoke to two other gay couples who were trying to use IVF to start their families. They found that couples were having to spend thousands on the IVF.

They also raised awareness of the fact that same-sex couples currently have to pay for up to six rounds of artificial insemination to prove they can't conceive before receiving IVF. In a statement at the end of the episode, both the government and the NHS said they were committed to ending the disparity between heterosexual and same-sex couples.

Nicola and Ella said they hoped things would become more equal for couples seeking IVF in the future. They have both also received a lot of online abuse from homophobic and racist trolls as they have shared their journey on social media.

Nicola ended the documentary saying: "There's not just one ideal family - the world just isn't like that anymore."
