Bournemouth striker gives Erling Haaland boost ahead of Man City clash

Bournemouth striker Kieffer Moore believes that Erling Haaland will have no trouble settling in to English football following his two-goal debut against West Ham last weekend.

Haaland silenced his critics after an underwhelming performance in the Community Shield the week before by scoring twice as City opened their Premier League title defence with a comfortable 2-0 win at the London Stadium.

Today City take on newly promoted Bournemouth in their first home game of the season, with Haaland looking to open his Etihad Stadium account.

Like Haaland, Moore scored his Premier League debut last weekend in Bournemouth's 2-0 defeat of Aston Villa. Speaking ahead of Saturday's game in Manchester, the Welsh striker said Haaland is set for great things at City.

"I have seen a lot of him throughout his career at Dortmund, and he is an exciting player. I think he needed that first goal to get going and he looked good after that," said Moore.

"I think he is very well equipped for it, he is quick, he is strong, he is intelligent. It could work really well for him, especially with him being in such a good team at Man City as well."

Bournemouth are back in the top flight after two seasons spent in the Championship, and if past results are anything to go by then they could have a tough afternoon ahead of them at the Etihad.

The Cherries are winless in all 16 league meetings with City - no team in football league history has a worse record against a single opponent.

Moore added: "It’s going to be a tough game, it won’t get much tougher without the ball, they are very good in possession. They try to manipulate teams and move teams around. We’ve been working diligently throughout pre-season and we will have a game plan."
