Cleaning crews were deployed to Bourbon Street on Thursday morning following the New Year's Day terror attack in the French Quarter. Law enforcement officials had spent the previous day gathering evidence from the scene before the FBI cleared the area. City council member Helena Moreno emphasized that while the scene had been cleared, the investigation was still ongoing.
Despite the cleanup efforts, Bourbon Street remained closed to the public as authorities continued their work. Moreno noted that the decision to fully reopen the historic street would ultimately rest with the New Orleans Police Department superintendent and the mayor. She expressed optimism that the city was gradually returning to normalcy in the aftermath of the tragic event.
