Boulders to open new climbing centre on outskirts of Cardiff with kids' zone and party space

After opening their first climbing centre in Cardiff 15 years ago, Boulders are expanding to a new location on the outskirts of the capital. The new location will have bouldering walls, a viewing area, a cafe and a kids' zone with party facilities.

The new site will be at Valegate Retail Park, Culverhouse Cross and like their current sites on Cardiff's Newport Road and in Cheltenham, Boulders’ new centre will offer everyone the opportunity to reap the mental and physical benefits of climbing; supporting beginners through to experts. There will be a dedicated bouldering space with walls reaching up to 4 metres high meaning climbers of all abilities can enjoy.

There will also be a kids’ zone with party facilities, a specialist training area along with a large viewing area and café. Don't worry if you don't own your own pair of climbing shoes as you can hire them at Boulders.

Speaking about the new site co-founder of Boulders Ollie Noakes said: “Back in 2008 we opened the first dedicated climbing facility in Cardiff. It's been an incredible journey over the past nearly 15 years! We opened our second facility in Cheltenham in 2020 and we're already looking for additional sites. It feels great to be opening our third facility."

He added: “Cardiff is where Boulders was born. We truly believe that climbing is a sport that everyone can enjoy; by opening our second site here we're making climbing more accessible so that even more people can enjoy the sport and its many benefits."
