Boston unable to capitalize on second chances, miss last-second shot to tie Nuggets

The Boston Celtics saw their historic home winning streak snapped by the reigning NBA champion Denver Nuggets on Friday night at TD Garden as the Celtics fell 102-100 in a contest that was close throughout. A poor shooting night from deep, losing the rebounding battle, and a few key mistakes late likely were the margin that cost Boston the game.

It also was not the best play from the Celtics’ two star forwards Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum on a night when the Nuggets’ stars shone, with Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray combining for a total of 69 points (not so nice for Boston fans). While a letdown for Celtics fans, it also held some promise, as it seems very likely that if these two teams meet in the 2024 NBA Finals, a seven-game series could go either way.

NBC Sports Boston’s Brian Scalabrine and Eddie House joined Amina Smith to talk over the loss after the final buzzer sounded on “Postgame Live”.
