Boston’s Jayson Tatum opens up on his early impressions of Cooper Flagg

A lot of NBA teams that are not the Boston Celtics are going to be playing ‘Capture the Flagg’ this coming 2024-25 NBA season in order to be in the mix to draft star NCAA prospect Cooper Flagg. The soon-to-be Duke star turned heads at recent US National Team practices for the 2024 Paris Olympics, including that of star Celtics forward and fellow Blue Devil alum Jayson Tatum.

The St. Louis native shared his early impressions of Flagg on a recent episode of the Wave Sports and Entertainment Original “7 PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony and The Kid Mero” podcast. He’s on the path to (be) like the guys he is playing against,” said Tatum. “A majority of us were a version of him when we were 17, 18 — playing against pros.”

“He’s a hell of a player, and he’s going to Duke, but it’s clear as day we’re going to be playing against him in a few years,” suggested Tatum.

“And he’s on the right path to be (right there) with the guys that he probably looks up to.”
