Boston’s Jaylen Brown leaning into Celtics’ recent adversity

A general malaise has fallen on the Boston Celtics since the midpoint of the 2022-23 season. The team has struggled to put away lesser teams on paper, particularly in the last few weeks.

To star Celtics wing Jaylen Brown, this unexpected challenge is something the Georgia native leans into every night his team takes the floor, and it has shown.

“Anytime adversity hits, those are the moments,” said Brown via The Athletic’s Jay King. “Those are the moments you look to. Those are the moments I look to.”

“When everybody is feeling down or the energy’s low, those are the moments where I’m like, ‘OK, let’s get it going. OK, let’s come out and play. OK, let’s play with a little bit more urgency, let’s play with a little more fire.'”

“Because those are the moments that matter the most, in my opinion,” added the former Cal-Berkeley star, emphasizing his commitment to not shying away from the elements of the team’s play of late that could come back to haunt them later.

Now the question remaining to be answered is whether his teammates will follow the star shooting guard’s lead — most notably star teammate Jayson Tatum.
