The Boston Celtics announced via press release that Celtics head coach Ime Udoka has been honored as the league’s Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for the combined months of March and April 2022 on Tuesday afternoon, April presumably being abbreviated due to the majority of the month being dedicated to the league’s postseason.
After February of this year, it is the second such honor for Udoka with the Celtics as their head coach. As noted by the team, he finished the team’s final 19 games starting in March with a 5 – 4 record, with a +14 net rating and a 123.4 offensive rating, all league bests for Boston over that period of time.
Udoka is also the first Celtics head coach since Doc Rivers to win the honor two months in a row, according to the team, with the first-year head coach becoming just the third ever to secure a 50-win season in his first campaign at the helm.
Ime Udoka has won coach of the month for the second month in a row,
tied with Monty Williams for the league lead with two. Likewise, Jayson Tatum lead the league in player of the week awards with 4 this season, though he didn’t win a player of the month award.— Jared Weiss (@JaredWeissNBA) April 12, 2022
