The Boston Celtics have long had an affinity for playing some football here and there at the team’s practice facility for fun, and inter-sport friendliness between the Celtics and the New England Patriots has bridged the gap a bit between the two fanbases as well.
But in the team’s 2022 training camp thus far, playing some football for fun at the Auerbach Center has been more than just a way to kill a little time for the players. In recent weeks it has transformed into a full-blown pastime for Boston’s roster, keeping the mood fun and light around the ball club.
After a recent practice, reserve guard Derrick White spoke about the Celtics’ new hobby a bit with the media, as well as playing off the ball in practice with backcourt teammate Marcus Smart and how that has been impacted by the improved spacing of the team.
