Boston’s 2023 offseason moves paid immediate dividends

Shortly after the Boston Celtics were eliminated from the 2023 NBA playoffs by the Miami Heat, Brad Stevens began plotting a way to improve the team. Two major trades followed in the coming months. Stevens acquired Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday in separate deals that saw some fan favorites, including Marcus Smart, head for the exit door.

What followed was one of the most dominant seasons in Boston’s NBA history. The Celtics secured the best record in the NBA and a top-2 offensive and defensive rating. They followed up that regular-season dominance with a commanding postseason run, dropping just three games.
