The Chicago Bulls seemed like the idea opponent for the Boston Celtics to restart regular season action against after an extended break for the NBA’s 2024 All-Star Week. Then, the opening buzzer sounded, and Boston forgot how to play defense after the first few possessions.
But the Celtics found their way defensively in the game’s second half, picking up a 129-112 victory with big games from Derrick White (28 points, 5 assists, 3 blocks), Jayson Tatum (225 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists), and Jaylen Brown (21 points, 5 boards, 5 assists). Kristaps Porzingis (14 points, 3 blocks) and Luke Kornet (10 points) also chipped in on the win.
It was also the Celtics debuts of new Boston players Xavier Tillman, Sr. (2 points, 1 block) and Jaden Springer.
