Boston Mayor Michelle Wu criticized border czar Tom Homan during her testimony before Congress Tuesday, after he vowed to bring "hell" to her city. "Shame on him,"she said during the hearing.
The border czar said in February that he has his eyes set on Boston as he seeks to enact the mass deportation operations of the Trump administration.
"The police commissioner of Boston— you said you'd double down on not helping the law enforcement office of ICE. I'm coming to Boston, I'm bringing hell with me," Homan said to applause at CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference, back in late-February.

Now, Wu seemingly responded to Homan during her testimony before Congress. She is being questioned along with other Democratic mayors— Mike Johnston of Denver, Brandon Johnson of Chicago and Eric Adams of New York City— about their respective cities' sanctuary policy. They are being accused of thwarting President Trump's deportation efforts.
"Shame on him for lying about my city— bring him under oath, and let's ask him some questions," Wu said.
Wu had previously called Homan's comments "clueless" and spent time assuring immigrants that the city remains a safe and welcoming space. During the hearing, she also defended Boston's public safety record as the GOP tries to equate immigration with crime. In her city, throughout 2024, there were 24 homicides, the lowest number since at least 1957.
