Boston Celtics make Dalano Banton signing official

The Boston Celtics have officially announced their signing of point guard Dalano Banton via a press release, though the details of the contract have not been disclosed, as is Boston’s practice. Shams Charania of The Athletic reports the deal is for the minimum over two seasons with the second season being unguaranteed Banton, who stands at 6-feet-9 inches and weighs 204 pounds, played in 31 games for the Toronto Raptors during the prior season.

The Canadian floor general put up 4.6 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 9 minutes per game with Toronto, as well as with the Raptors 905 at the G League level, where he recorded 24.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.4 steals in 33.6 minutes per game.

He played college basketball for Nebraska, where he was the first player since 1974 to lead the Huskers in both rebounding and assists.

Banton, a native of Toronto, was drafted by the Raptors as the 46th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, making him the first Canadian player chosen by the Raptors in that draft.
