In a closely contested game, the Boston Celtics secured a hard-fought victory against the struggling Detroit Pistons in overtime, sending the Pistons’ losing streak to a historic 28 games. The Celtics faced a strong attack from Detroit in the first half, trailing by as much as 21 points, but rallied in the second half of the game, led by the scoring of star big man Kristaps Porzingis and All-NBA forward Jayson Tatum.
The team’s improved energy, ball movement, and a focus on pounding the paint contributed to their comeback in the final frame and overtime. Despite being outrebounded by the Pistons by 14 boards, the Celtics kept fighting, narrowly avoiding footnote status in the history books as a result.
Oddly, the victory marked the Celtics’ first overtime win of the season.
NBC Sports Boston’s Eddie House, Brian Scalabrine and Amina Smith weighed in on the narrow win on “Postgame Live!” after the victory; check it out above!
