The Boston Celtics played the Philadelphia 76ers like they were a team reeling from trading away James Harden for much of their road tilt against the Sixers on Wednesday night, but found a ball club that was all too happy to feast on the small mistakes the Celtics kept making despite evidence they were up against a dangerous foe.
It would cost Boston the game, with the Sixers capitalizing on Boston’s errors on a night their offense was also out of sorts for much of the contest. Solid games from Kristaps Porzingis (29 points, 6 rebounds), Derrick White (19 points, 5 assists), Jayson Tatum (16 points, 15 boards, 3 steals) and Jrue Holiday (12 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists) on a night that saw Jaylen Brown (12 points) go 4-of-13 overall accompanied by little else in terms of helping his team.
Sam Hauser added 13 points off the bench, but with Al Horford and Payton Pritchard combining for just 1-of-10 from the floor overall, it’s honestly a minor miracle Boston didn’t lose by more.
