Jaylen Brown signed the biggest contract in NBA history this summer, but he must wait another year before those payments kick in. The Boston Celtics have added a significant salary to their cap sheet during the off-season and are firmly in the second-tax apron heading into the new season.
Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday will be the highest-paid players on the Celtics roster, earning $36 million for the season. He will also begin an extension after the current season, earning an average of $30 million over two seasons. Al Horford is entering the first year of his two-way $19.5 million extension.
As a franchise, the Celtics have $183.4 million on their books for the upcoming season, making them one of the most expensive rosters in the NBA.
