Boston alum Tony Allen on why Jayson Tatum working out with Paul Pierce will pay off

By now, most analysts and fans of the Boston Celtics have caught wind of All-NBA star forward Jayson Tatum working out with Hall of Fame Celtics forward Paul Pierce, and various theories have sprung up about what is going on with those runs. Pierce has downplayed his role in those workouts, but teammate Tony Allen had a theory he shared on a recent episode of the Showtime Basketball “KG Certified” podcast.

“That seek and destroy mentality,” is something that The Truth can help Tatum develop. “I used to look at (Pierce) and see three things that were going to happen. Either he was going to get fouled, he was going to score, or he was going to get somebody a bucket,” said Allen via Audacity’s Justin Turpin.

“That’s that seek and destroy mentality,” he added. “I’m not saying Tatum does not have it, but (Pierce) working out with him — I think that’s good insight.”
