Blackpool boss Neil Critchley has had his say on Nottingham Forest’s unsuccessful attempt to sign Josh Bowler during the January transfer window.
The Reds had multiple bids turned down for the Seasiders winger last month, making a last push to land him on deadline day, having cooled their interest in Millwall’s Jed Wallace.
Championship rivals Bournemouth were also said to be keen on Bowler in the final hours of the window, in what was a dramatic finish to January.
The 22-year-old ended up staying put at Bloomfield Road, however, despite also being linked with Fulham, Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City.
Asked if the player not going anywhere was down to clubs - notably Forest - not meeting Blackpool’s asking price, Critchley told the Blackpool Gazette: “You’ve got to know your own player’s value first and foremost.
“We didn’t want one of our best players to be leaving the club without being able to replace him as well, so timing is crucial.”
He added of deadline day: “Not a lot happened, but I can assure you a lot did happen on Monday.
“It was quite a busy day, quite an eventful day.
“It might appear that not a lot happened but I can assure you that was far from the case.”
The Reds brought in forward Sam Surridge and defender Jonathan Panzo on Monday, taking their number of January additions to five.
Keinan Davis, Steve Cook and Richie Laryea had already put pen to paper at the City Ground earlier in the window.
