Borussia Dortmund Sporting Director Confirms Gio Reyna's Stay

Borussia Dortmund (BVB) football

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has addressed recent speculations surrounding the future of young talent Gio Reyna, stating that there have been no indications of the player's desire to leave the Bundesliga club during this transfer window. Kehl emphasized that Reyna could play a significant role for Dortmund in the upcoming season.

Reyna, who featured in 11 matches for Dortmund before a loan spell at Nottingham Forest, returned to the club after an uneventful stint at the English club. Despite rumors suggesting a potential transfer, Kehl clarified that there have been no discussions regarding Reyna's departure.

Kehl expressed confidence in Reyna's abilities and highlighted the player's recent appearance in Dortmund's Bundesliga opener against Eintracht Frankfurt. He mentioned that Reyna has the opportunity to further develop and contribute to the team under new head coach Nuri Sahin.

Regarding Reyna's role within the squad, Kehl emphasized the importance of accepting and embracing it, noting that Reyna had shown a willingness to take on the responsibilities assigned to him. Kehl praised Reyna's progress in various aspects of his game, including his tactical awareness, goal-scoring threat, and overall growth as a player.

With two years remaining on his current contract, Reyna's immediate future seems to lie with Dortmund, as Kehl indicated that the club values the young midfielder's potential impact. Dortmund is set to face Werder Bremen in their next Bundesliga fixture before the international break.

Reyna's upcoming schedule includes representing the United States national team in friendly matches against Canada and New Zealand, providing him with additional opportunities to showcase his talent on the international stage.
