Boris Johnson is to carry out a reshuffle of his ministerial team on Tuesday afternoon, Downing Street has said.
The prime minister's official spokesperson said it was expected that there would be a "small number" of changes announced.
The news follows the appointment of Steve Barclay, the Cabinet Office minister and Conservative MP for North East Cambridgeshire, as Mr Johnson's new chief of staff.
Mr Barclay's predecessor in the role, Dan Rosenfield, was among five Downing Street staff to resign last week.
The prime minister has come under increasing pressure to quit after the publication of a report by a senior civil servant into alleged breaches of lockdown rules in Whitehall.
In an "update" published last Monday, Sue Gray criticised "failures of leadership and judgement" across No 10 and the Cabinet Office.
A total of 12 gatherings are now being investigated by the Metropolitan Police.
