Boris Johnson handed version of Sue Gray report and is due to make statement today

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to make a statement in Parliament today after being handed an update on the Sue Gray 'partygate' report.

Some parts of the report by the senior civil servant are expected to be left out due to a separate Met Police investigation, the Mirror reports.

It also reported sources saying Mr Johnson was to tell MPs that Government will "learn the lessons" of the row before announcing changes to his top team in No10.

Mr Johnson is understood to be preparing to speak to Tory MPs and members of his Cabinet today to shore up support.

A Cabinet Office spokesman said: “We can confirm that Sue Gray has provided an update on her investigations to the Prime Minister.”

Earlier today, the PM said he “sticks absolutely to what he’s said in the past” about alleged lockdown-breaking parties in Downing Street.

On a visit to the port in Tilbury, Essex, the Prime Minister refused to be drawn when asked whether the imminent report by civil servant Sue Gray into the gatherings would be a “whitewash” after the Metropolitan Police requested parts be redacted.

He added: “Of course I stick absolutely to what I’ve said in the past”.

This is a developing story and will be updated shortly
