Boris Johnson tells Rangers fans he is proud to see them 'flying the flag' in Seville

Boris Johnson has recorded a video message for Rangers ahead of the squad's appearance in the Europa League final, proclaiming that he "couldn't be happier" to see Rangers fans "flying the flag" in Seville.

The Prime Minister, no expert on football or Scotland, recorded a Downing Street message to gave his enthusiastic support for the Ibrox team, hours ahead of their showdown with German side Eintracht Frankfurt.

Johnson said : "A lot has happened to the club since you last had a game like this to look forward to. So it's a fantastic reward for the the fans' dedication through thick and thin.

"And it is always great for UK Sport and for the UK as a whole to see our great teams performing on the grandest of stages. "

"So, whatever happens on the pitch, I couldn't be happier to see you fly your flag out and Spain and I know that you will do us all proud. Good luck."
