Boris Johnson resigned as leader of the Conservative Party this afternoon (July 7) following a chaotic few days which saw more than 50 Tories quit the Government.
The Prime Minister gave a speech outside of Number 10 Downing Street where he said it was "painful" to leave and "give up the best job in the world".
Brits have since flocked to social media to share their thoughts on the speech, with some unable to focus on anything apart from Johnson's "them's the break" quip.
He said: "To you the British public - I know there will be many people who are relieved and perhaps quite a few who will also be disappointed. And I want you to know how sad I am to be giving up the best job in the world. But them’s the breaks."
One person branded the comment a "sackable offence" in itself in a post which has garnered hundreds of likes.

Another said: "Absolutely crying for all the historians of the future, having to use 'them's the breaks' in academic scholarship."
The Very British Problems Twitter account also added the phrase "them's the breaks" to a list of British ways to say 'I've just been through the most harrowing and traumatising experience of my life.'
Others tweeted to compare Johnson's final moments as the leader of the Tory party to the end of Donald Trump's presidency.
"So Boris Johnson DID NOT resign as PM. He also distanced himself from the Conservative Party and their judgement. This is Trump II," proclaimed an upset user.
Someone else posted: " Donald Trump said a few years ago that Boris Johnson was Britain's Trump. I'm afraid the Prime Minister is proving the former President right."
While a different user simply thought the speech had shown "Trumpian levels of self-delusion."
Many others poked fun at the situation, with a Twitter account for Larry the Number 10 Cat claiming they were looking for a "new housemate".
They wrote: "Wanted: New housemate for Westminster-based feline. Recently decorated house includes excellent security, lightly used office space and large garden, suitable for hosting parties. Deep clean required."
Madame Tussauds also couldn't resist trolling the PM, updating their Downing Street display with a figure of Boris Johnson to show a 'VACANCY' sign on the front door of Number 10.
Some asked if they could have "another bank holiday" to "celebrate" Boris Johnson resigning while there were also several clips of cheering football fans shared to highlight the "UK now" after the speech.
