Boris Johnson is morally bankrupt and does not stand for British people

Young mum Tamara Beattie walks about shopping centres with her two-year-old to keep warm as there’s not enough money to put the heating on at home.

Her and her husband both work but they are struggling with soaring bills. Maria Brown is petrified of what the future holds.

At the age of 63, she earns just £16,000 a year and is considering getting a second job as her family can’t afford energy and food prices. The Tories once had respect for people in work like Tamara and Maria who were willing to graft to provide for their family and better their communities.

But now they are too busy fighting among themselves. As he poses, thumbs-up, for a planned return to Downing Street after cutting off a luxury holiday – taken while he was meant to be working as an MP – it looks like a joke to Boris Johnson.

This is a man who thinks governing the country is a game to be played. He and his Tory MP cronies should hang their heads in shame. Not only for making the country a laughing stock around the world but for throwing a grenade at the economy and letting ordinary people suffer with the consequences.

Johnson should remind himself of the everyday sacrifices people like Maria and Tamara are having to make merely to survive. As he hums and haws about whether he wants to be Prime Minister again, it’s the future of them and 65million others which can be influenced by a decision taken inside Number 10.

He is a proven liar who had champagne parties while people died without loved ones. He broke all the rules he set out for the rest of us and, after being slung out of office, took a two-week holiday to lounge on the beach while the country’s economy went down the toilet.

He is incapable of thinking about what ordinary people are going through. And now the narcissistic, corrupt and morally bankrupt politician fancies a second go at PM.

This country simply can’t take any more.

Free our oilman stuck in Iraq jail

Jailed oil worker Brian Glendinning needs help.

Arrested in Iraq six weeks ago over an unpaid loan, he’s now sharing a prison cell with terrorists and killers. While his family have vowed not to give up until he is back in Kincardine, the powers-that-be seem to be kicking their heels. They say the UK Government have done little.

James Cleverly, the Foreign Secretary, might not be in his job this time next week but his department need to do something. The Glendinnings’ situation shows how important it is to have a stable and reliable government that is able to deal with a crisis – and help its citizens.
