Boris Johnson hails Donald Trump's 'strong leadership' in glowing inauguration review

BORIS Johnson has given Donald Trump a glowing review as he attended his inauguration. arguing new president will provide “strong leadership” for not just America, but the rest of the world.

The former prime minister was in attendance at Trump's inauguration at the Capitol Building in Washington DC on Monday as he recalled the moment the “world’s wokerati” tried to prevent.

Writing in his column for the Daily Mail the former Tory leader said Trump’s speech, which covered a range of topics including immigration, the economy and planting the Stars and Stripes on Mars, left his “opponents chewing the carpet”.

Johnson joined several other UK politicians for the event, including Reform UK’s Nigel Farage, Priti Patel and ex-home secretary Suella Braverman, to witness the “resurrection” of the man who was “despised and reviled”.

He wrote that Trump is “determined” to deliver strong leadership and that things will go “better” across the world because of it.

“All human institutions need a leader, and the world is no exception,” Johnson wrote.

“For better or worse, America is the leader of our planet, and on the whole things go better when that leadership is strong,

“That strong leadership is what Trump is evidently determined to give.”

He wrote that the American president's speech ranged from “surging optimism to pure bullishness”.

Adding his messages of tearing up restrictions for oil and gas and reclaiming control of the Panama Canal were not going “down big” with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris sitting behind Trump.

Johnson also highlighted Elon Musk (above), Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Tim Cook were all behind Trump during his swearing-in as the 47th president of the United States, as he said it asserted a “new symbiosis” between the president and the super-oligarchs of America.

“This is a 78-year-old man who has beaten umpteen legal cases against him, most of them vexatious and all of them purely designed to keep him off the ballot,” Johnson said referring to Trump being found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records.

Trump was sentenced to an unconditional discharge – meaning no jail time, fine or probation on January 10.

Johnson added: “He has fought day in, day out for four years to reclaim the presidency.”

The former prime minister said the feeling within the room was that Trump now ranks with the great figures in American history and that he now stands alongside the likes of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

Johnson concluded in his column that the UK Government needs to get its “act together” and come up with a free trade deal similar to the one with China during his last tenure of presidency.
