Boris Johnson braced for Sue Gray report amid fresh claims of Abba party in flat

Boris Johnson is braced for Sue Gray’s report amid new revelations about a 'Winner Takes It All' party in his flat to celebrate after Dominic Cummings quit.

Despite the emergence of shocking new claims about the Prime Minister’s behaviour, sources last night said he was “privately reassured” he would not be forced out by his MPs when the Gray report is issued.

The Whitehall enforcer is understood to have been told about allegations claiming Carrie Johnson held a party the night Cummings resigned on November 13, 2020.

The Mirror reported last year that No 10 aides “drank their socks off” and new reports, also denied by Mrs Johnson’s spokeswoman, suggest they played Abba’s The Winner Takes It All to celebrate her adversary quitting.

Separate claims have emerged that Ms Gray has been informed that some of Ms Johnson’s friends had the access code to their private flat.

And it has been alleged that a tipsy Downing Street staffer boasted about breaching lockdown rules to police guarding No10, telling them, “We’re the only ones allowed to party”, as they left in the early hours.

Mr Johnson is also facing damaging claims that he was banned from taking top secret documents home after papers were seen strewn around his flat.

Highly classified material, known as Strap documents, was allegedly found lying around his quarters in Downing Street and Chequers.

Mr Cummings reportedly stopped intelligence documents being put in the PM’s red box in early 2020 after becoming alarmed by the “frat house” atmosphere.

The latest revelations add to a growing picture of behind-the-scenes chaos as Mr Johnson battles to save his job.

Senior civil servant Ms Gray has watered down her 'partygate' report at the request of Met Police, which has launched an investigation into eight of the 17 gatherings.

Labour called for the PM to finally “end the circus” over partygate.

Shadow minister Lisa Nandy said: “There are a lot of bereaved families, there are a lot of people who made huge sacrifices who deserve to hear the truth from the Prime Minister.

"If he won’t put an end to this circus then that report has to come out in full so that people can judge for themselves.”

Over the weekend, Tory backbencher Tom Tugendhat became the first to announce that he intends to stand for the leadership if Mr Johnson is forced out.

He said: “I think it’s up to all of us to put ourselves forward.”

Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, a favourite for the top job, insisted Mr Johnson would lead the party into the next election.

Asked if she is tempted to challenge for the leadership, she said: “There is no contest.”
