Boris Becker's mum has revealed the tennis legend has only bothered to call her once since being handed a jail sentence in April.
In April, Becker, 54, was found guilty at Southwark Crown Court on four counts of the Insolvency Act. The charges related to the German star hiding assets to the value of £2.5 million after filing for bankruptcy.
As a result, he was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in jail. He's currently serving his term in HM Prison Huntercombe, a facility used to detain foreign criminals, and he could be deported from the UK as soon as he's able to walk free.
But despite reportedly messaging compatriot Alexander Zverev from his cell during the French Open this year, he's been seemingly reluctant to keep in touch with mother Elvira Becker, 87. She's claimed she has only heard from her son once, on May 14, which is Mother's Day in Germany.
Becker senior is 87, and unable to travel to Britain to visit her son. She has had to rely on the nine-time Grand Slam champion's girlfriend, Lilian de Carvalho, for updates and information.
"I can no longer fly to Boris, I can’t visit him in prison. That makes me sad, but it can’t be helped," she said, via The Sun. "I had a fracture of the femur (thigh bone). I need a crutch or walker to help me walk."
Her precarious state hasn't prompted regular contact though, with her adding: "Boris called me once while in prison. It was for Mother’s Day. He said everything was fine and I shouldn’t worry about him.”
During the BBC's Wimbledon coverage, pundits John McEnroe and Sue Barker referenced their former colleague live on air: "Boris, we love you," said the American. "We miss you man," to which Barker added: "We do indeed."
Novak Djokovic, who Becker coached through one of his most successful periods, also reached out to him during the tournament at SW19. He said he was "heartbroken" by his mentor's sentence.
