Boreham Wood captain Mark Ricketts rallies fearless non-leaguers ahead of FA Cup trip to Bournemouth

Boreham Wood captain Mark Ricketts believes his side can continue their magical FA Cup run by toppling Bournemouth on Sunday.

The non-leaguers face a team who are third in the Championship and who bolstered their squad significantly on transfer deadline day.

They signed five players, including loans for Liverpool defender Nat Phillips and Norwich midfielder Todd Cantwell.

But Ricketts claims Boreham Wood, who beat League One Wimbledon in the previous round, have no fear going into the clash.

He said: “It is going to be tough. Going down there you think, maybe they’ll rest a few? Obviously, their focus will be promotion.

“But on the day anything can happen, that will be the view of the players. We will go there with belief, especially with the way we’ve been playing, and try to do something special on the day.

“The win over Wimbledon [in the third round] was the highlight of my career. I’ve never experienced a feeling like it.”
