The highly-anticipated first trailer for the upcoming film adaptation of the popular video game series, Borderlands, has been released, giving fans a glimpse of the star-studded cast and the action-packed world of Pandora.
Leading the cast is Academy Award-winning actress Cate Blanchett, who portrays the outlaw leader Lilith. Joining her are Kevin Hart as Roland, Jamie Lee Curtis as Tannis, Jack Black as the voice of the robot Claptrap, and Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Haley Bennett, and Édgar Ramirez in supporting roles.
The trailer showcases the dangerous and chaotic world of Pandora, described by Lilith as a 'dumpster fire of a world.' The action is set to the tune of Electric Light Orchestra's 'Do Ya,' giving the film a rock 'n' roll vibe reminiscent of Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy.
Borderlands has been a highly-anticipated project, with filmmaker Eli Roth helming the adaptation. Despite facing scheduling conflicts, Roth successfully completed filming, with Tim Miller stepping in to oversee reshoots in early 2023.
The film is produced by Gearbox and 2K, with Avi Arad, Ari Arad, and Erik Feig serving as producers. Borderlands is set to hit theaters on August 9, distributed by Lionsgate.
