Border Czar And NYC Mayor Collaborate On Criminal Alien Crackdown

President Donald Trump's border czar, Tom Homan, is set to meet with New York City Mayor Eric Adams to discuss collaboration between federal authorities and the NYPD in cracking down on known criminal aliens in the city, particularly members of Venezuela's Tren de Aragua gang.

The meeting follows the dropping of a corruption case against Mayor Adams initiated during the Biden-Harris administration, which Adams claimed was politically motivated due to his opposition to an open border policy that led to an influx of illegal immigrants in New York. Mayor Adams, who recently met with former President Trump, has denied any wrongdoing.

Homan is aiming to establish an agreement with Mayor Adams for the NYPD to assist in removing threats to public safety, including potentially reopening an Immigration and Customs Enforcement office at Rikers Island's main jail.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the progress on this matter, Homan is pushing for immediate action and is urging Mayor Adams to cooperate swiftly.

Mayor Adams had previously stated the city's willingness to work with ICE as part of a national effort to address criminal illegal immigrants, despite existing sanctuary laws in the state and city.

Highlighting the need to reform the immigration system, Mayor Adams has criticized his own party's stance on immigration and emphasized the importance of addressing the broken system.

Recent legal actions have been taken against New York state officials for allegedly using sanctuary laws to shield illegal immigrants from federal immigration enforcement. ICE has reported that its crackdown in New York City has already led to the apprehension of gang members, drug traffickers, and other dangerous criminals, contributing to a safer environment in the city.
