A 'booze and ball games' venue is opening in Bristol in May after it submitted plans to replace a gym on Union Street last year. Roxy Lanes, which offers ten pin bowling, arcade games, beer pong and karaoke, promises to be the "new all day and night destination in Bristol" and will open at the former site of Fitness4Less in the city centre.
Roxy Lanes is set to create 45 new jobs in Bristol, and will have a capacity of 350. The new Bristol venue will join others in Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham, Liverpool and Leeds.
The venue merges drinking with "competitive gaming," with activities like ice-free curling, shuffleboard, basketball and 'batting cages' available to book. Ten-pin bowling starts at £8 each, while karaoke rooms are priced from £24 for up to 20 people for an hour.

The venue is described as an "adult playground" which is "perfect for parties". It had applied to the council to sell alcohol from 11am to 2.30am on Fridays and Saturdays, and 11am to 1.30am Sunday to Thursday.
As well as games, the venue specialises in cocktails, with a lengthy menu consisting of a 'Ping Star Martini', 'Roxy Spritz', and a 'Sudden Death'. There are signature cocktails like Sours, Collins and Pina Colada on offer too, all for £7.50 each.
Food-wise there is a pizza menu, where you customers choose from toppings such as BBQ Jackfruit and Chicken and Chorizo, and a sides menu, consisting of mac 'n' cheese bites, garlic dough balls and crispy chicken fillets.
The venue will open in May and is set to rival the likes of Lane 7 at the harbourside, which also offers bowling and arcade games. It is one of a number of exciting bars opening in Bristol this year.
Roxy's Commercial Manager Joel Mitchell said: “Bristol is an exciting and vibrant city, full of creative individuals who love to have fun. We’ve been wanting to join the bustling night life here for a while. We’re excited about bringing our competitive gaming concept to a new audience.”
