Boots took more than three orders every second for 14 hours straight in a record-breaking Black Friday. Posting its results for the latest financial quarter, Nottinghamshire's largest company said it had benefited from its biggest-ever day of digital sales on November 25 last year.
The rate of three orders per second works out at 151,200 over 14 hours on the big day of sales. Overall, Boots UK's comparable retail sales grew by 8.7 percent up until November 30, helping drive its market up for a seventh consecutive quarter.
Managing director Sebastian James said it had been a positive quarter. “Our focus on giving customers our best ever value to help with cost of living pressures, as well as continued investment in our digital capability and in updating our store estate, has resulted in increased retail sales and market share growth for the seventh consecutive quarter," he said.

"Our Black Friday and Christmas performance was particularly pleasing and I would like to thank the teams for their huge efforts in bringing our customers genuinely fantastic offers.” The company also recorded an eight percent increase in customer footfall across its 2,200 stores
Boots said its own brand Everyday Essentials range continued to be a significant driver of growth and saw sales of the £1.50 and below products increase by 35 percent.
In healthcare, an average 3.7 million healthcare items were dispensed per week and more than 1.45 million flu vaccinations and 220,000 Covid vaccinations were administered. Beauty products accounted for more than 55 percent of online sales on Boots.com.
