Boots is shaking up its Advantage Card loyalty scheme – but it’s good news for shoppers

Boots is shaking up its Advantage Card loyalty scheme - and the change means more deals for online shoppers.

The health and beauty giant has confirmed its new “Price Advantage” initiative will now be available online, having previously only been in stores.

“Price Advantage” gives exclusive discounts to Boots customers with an Advantage Card.

These deals aren’t available to shoppers that aren’t signed up to the loyalty scheme.

In the shops, customers have to hand over their Advantage Card at the tills to get the lower price that is advertised on the shelves.

But Boots has now started including “Price Advantage” products onto its websites - meaning online shoppers will also benefit from lower prices if they’re part of the loyalty programme.

Customers have always been able to link up their Advantage Card onto their Boots online account to collect points.

You’ll need to make sure your card is linked to your account, and you’re logged in, to get the “Price Advantage” deals.

The lower prices will be advertised online and on the Boots app, alongside the regular price of the item.

In addition, the scheme has been extended to include over 300 additional products across categories including beauty, health and baby.

It only included around 150 items at first.

Advantage Card holders who purchase products included in the scheme will see an average saving of £2.65 per product, according to Boots.

Some products will have up to 50% off and savings as big as £17.

Pete Markey, chief marketing officer at Boots UK said: “Price Advantage was born following customer feedback, with many telling us that they would like to receive immediate benefits through their Boots Advantage Card, as well as being able to save up points and treat themselves in the future.

“The response from the store launch has been really positive which is why we are now making it more accessible by rolling out online and adding in more products.”

In less good news for shoppers, Boots customers were left furious this week after the pharmacy chain confirmed it you’ll soon lose all your Advantage points if you haven’t used your card in over a year.

At the moment, your points get wiped after two years. The change comes into effect from June 20, 2022.

While you don't need to spend your points, you do need to shop with Boots and scan your card.

Advantage members earn four rewards points for every £1 they spend in-store and online.

The points are then worth 1p each in return when you convert them to spend in stores.
